Title: Faces of the Saver and Devil

Artist statement: I use back the picture I use in my video and combine them into one picture. Hakurei Reimu and Kirisame Marisa is always the main characters in Touhou Project and I still use the insane looking Remilia and Flandre to show the vampire feel. Hakurei Reimu I just show the eyes is because she have a sharp vision and Kirisame Marisa's smile due to she is a happy-go-lucky yet likes to take on tough challenge character.

Artwork treatment: I use purely Adobe Illustrator to create the artwork. Basically, all I use to draw this is pen tools and some reference picture I can get from google. I actually wanted to make a face out of all the picture I use in the video but then I found out, some pictures doesn't fit to each other. So I decided to put in the main hero and villain to finish up this poster.

Title: Scarlet Devil Sisters

Artist statement: The above one is Remilia Scarlet, which is the older sisters of the two and the below one is the younger sister, Flandre Scarlet. Both of them have the insanely crazy look on them, is because I wanted to show the scariness of the vampire. I use Red color a lot since red is always use to represent vampires due to their liking towards blood.

Artwork treatment: I use purely Adobe Illustrator to create the artwork. And a very very special thank you to one of my friend, Jonathan Dei Goon who willing to allow me to learn his style of drawing as a reference for drawing this poster. Basically, all I use to draw this is pen tools and some reference picture I can get from google.

After done choosing my video or background sound, I wanted to start on my storyboard, so i went to youtube again to search for some stop-motion video on this series, Touhou Project.

I can't actually found and nice stop-motion video that is the same as the Project Brief. But there are almost the same type of video in youtube. Most of them are the storyboard that is combine together before becoming a real fully animated video.

I think show the video is better then just tell, so here are some example that I use as reference.

After a week of choosing soundtrack or voice or videos in youtube and my computer, finally come to a stop.

I decided to choose "the Dream of Scarlet" from a doujin group or fan-fiction group of the Touhou Fans, dBu. The original title is 赤より紅い夢 from the 6th game of Touhou, 東方紅魔郷 ～ Embodiment of Scarlet Devil that is produced by only one person, Jun'ya Ota also known as ZUN.

Since i choose this song as my background music, so i decided to make a video about the game. the video is serve like a advertisement for the game itself.

My video will be fully Stop-motion type and i still thinking either do it in hand-drawn or digital. I will be working on the storyboard soon and will upload every single story board that i draw up very soon.

Hi there, since assignment one,two and three is finish up....now we are going into the final stage for this major subject, The Final Project. I not so sure about how the project will be because lecturer himself say he will change the brief. Anyway, i decide to use this two songs for this project. If the title is free for us to choose, I wanted to make a video about a revive of a team. =) Hope this two songs are pass, but i will be only using one song to make this project. ^^ Till the next update, I now need to rest my mind just like what the lecturer ask us to do so. ^^

Final Assignment three

Everything that started has to be ended. So, here I am the final artwork of my assignment three. Credits must be given to Secret Recipe for the cakes and Charlene Ng Andrew of helping me at my Dragon drawing for the 2nd artwork.

There is a small changes in my initial design. At 1st, I was planning to use purely hand-drawn, but turns out the drawing doesn't come out nicely from what i expect. So, i change it into digital. At the same time, I found out that Penang people likes to use simple drawing to represent themselves or express their feeling. So, i change my total design into a very simple-ish artwork.

The basic idea is I combine both digital and sketch into a artwork. So, is very digital-ish and some are very sketch-ish.

Well, I think the picture is better to explain everything right ?? here we go. My final artwork ^^

Title: Unpredictable Jam

Artist statement: I use the shock express to show the unpredictable feeling. The dragon i use black since is at night, Black represent night the best. I use yellow to represent bread. I draw my artwork very comic-ish is because now-a-days teenagers or even adults likes to read comics.

Artwork treatment: I use both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create the artwork. I use brush tools to create the sketch-ish dragon to show the shadow of the dark and is actually the lights of the cars.

Title: Food tower

Artist statement: I still use back the shock expression for this. Since my survey say food and Komtar can represent Penang. So, I changed Komtar in a Swissroll and the cars are the cakes. The dragon remains as representing the night The Fairies are representing the thinking of people who went to Penang just for the food.

Artwork treatment: I use both Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop to create the artwork. And a very special thanks to Charlene Ng Andrew who helped me to "filter" or make a much nicer Dragon. The white part actually represent the part that is eaten up by the fairies which can also means that the people who went to Penang is always hunger for more food.

Main Reason why night: The light on the island or roadside is beautiful.

Here is my sketch of the final artwork.

This is the 1st artwork, it shows the unpredictable different between the day and night traffic jam. Morning I draw the car as breadstick because morning people will somehow think of food while at night i draw like a dragon body because, the lights from the traffic and the side-lights will create the illusion of the dragon.

This is the 2nd artwork. This is to show the food side of Komtar that can represent Penang. The dragon behind represent the night-lights and the cakes below shows the traffic while the fairies that are eating the "Komtar" shows that people likes to eat.

Our topic must be related to Penang. Well, I didn't join the trip to Penang but due I am born there. So,i chose "Traffic Jam" as my topic for assignment 3. Why traffic jam? Actually a small island like Penang also have a huge traffic like KL. But the beauty of the traffic jam is totally different feel when is at night and morning.

Assignment two Final Phase

Between all of this, I have to choose one.

So, i choose letter plus image to start my assignment.

The 1st design i make is putting the Guy Fawkes Mask as background, and the words in front to show the focus.

The 2nd Design is also my final design, i replace the background with the big shadow i use in assignment 1 and merge the Guy Fawkes Mask as the face. The words remains the same.

Title: Expect Us, Anonymous

Artist statement: This Quote is quite famous within the Internet world. I use Red color because to show the awareness and danger of Anonymous. Red is used to represent Danger. The big shadow behind is showing Anonymous can be Evil when comes to Internet Human Rights.

Artwork treatment: I use back the photos I use for my assignment one. I use Adobe Photoshop to merge and position the wording and the pictures together. The font I use is the already build-in Photoshop font, Tele-Marines.

Assignment two Research phase.

After i decide to use Anonymous, I was thinking of using their quote : "We are Anonymous. We do not forgive your attacks on freedom. We do not forget your ignorance. Expect Revolution. Expect us." as my assignment focus.

Then after some fonts research, I decide to use back one of my previous assignment photos as my background and use some simple fonts to represent the simpleness of Anonymous.

Anonymous is actually a group of hackers who loves to challenge themselves to a higher hacking level but they are just a simple human being just like us. That's why i decide to show the simple fonts to show the simpleness within Anonymous.

Assignment two-Typography

Typography is the art of arranging of text/type. Typography involved the selection of typeface (A block of text that shared the same design, or simply the design of the type), point size (relative measure of the size of text), line length(width occupied by a block of typeset text), leading (line spacing) and tracking (space between groups of letter). Usually, text is arranged to create a readable, coherent and visually satisfying work that communicated something. Text can be arranged in a way to increase readability or legibility. Legibility is the primitive concern of the typographer toward the distinguishable of each individual character. Legibility is how easy an individual character can be recognized. Readability is the primitive concern of the typographer toward the readable of the content. Readability is how easy a block of text can be read and understand. Other can create readable content, typography also used for graphic design. For example, display typography is used to for graphic design and the readability is less concern and it more about using the type in an artistic manner. Typography also is used to set mood and atmosphere and it always used in advertising. Classical fonts can be used to create strong personality while modern fonts are for a cleaner and neutral look.

Assignment one Final post =D

Alright !!! time to wrap up for Assignment one. Since I am like way to far away from the current Assignment which is Assignment three. Sorry about that.

Title: Unknown Anonymous

Artist statement: I choose this topic to represent my own issues which just happen recently. I get this idea because I am kind of a Internet Freak or people call me a Spammer. So, i found out this group long time ago but there is nothing that attract my attention until they launched the Operation Malaysia when Malaysia banned the file-sharing websites. From there, I started gain interest on this group. What makes it most interesting is most of my friends are interested with this group too. So, I was think about their identity until I found an article about their identity is hidden unknown until now. So, the idea of showing the unknown feeling pops out.

Artwork treatment: I use photographic as my media because I like take photos of people around me and yes all characters that i choose for my model are based on Touhou's Flandre Scarlet, Sakuya Izayoi and Hong Meiling. Of cause, all photos editing are helped by Thomas Kuan and Herman Ismail. i used Adobe Photoshop to edit the photo and merge the picture together.

Assignment one Sketch

Hi there and here are my sketches for Assignment one.

Design 1: To show the randomness of identity of Anonymous. The words are all codes.
Design 2: To show that the fear of people to Anonymous and cyber world.
Design 3: Same as Design 1 but is replace with Anonymous trademark mask, The Guy Fawkes Mask.

Final Design: I decided to combine all three of my design into one to form the randomness,fear feeling to Anonymous. The big shadow represent the alter identity that people create for Anonymous (Fear). While the hidden two human is the true yet hidden identity of the unknown. The Guy Fawkes Mask stays as the trademark of Anonymous. The code is there to show the surrounding of the world of cyber.

Hi there again. It's been awhile that I am able to update my blog due to some personal family matter I have to attend. Here we are, my updates of my Assignment 1.

The main source of "Operation Malaysia" comes from the word, Hacking. Hacking has been an issue to most people, company and even countries. The most common company that are facing the problem with Hacking is Sony and Google. According to news, a lot of hackers are hired to hack through their firewalls. Well, this is a good exercise and job search actually.

"Operation Malaysia" or "Anonymous" actually are totally different from the point I state up there. "Anonymous" hack is they are acting like the protector of internet which take care of human rights on internet. Which I personally think is a very good idea. But, sadly, countries leaders treat them as a threat to the nation. Like US or Mexico, a few members from the "Anonymous" are tracked down and captured.

So, after I did my mindmap and research, I found out that "Anonymous" can be fear, annoying and shocking. But to me, I feel that it's Random. Why I say Random ? This is because you never know who is the one who hacked you, you don't is whether the person hack you is your neighbor or not and "Anonymous" is EVERYWHERE.

So, my drawing will be showing the randomness of "Operation Malaysia" aka "Anonymous".

Assignment 1- Visual Expression

Hi there and welcome back !!! At my previous post, I said that Khai Wen going to choose "Operation Malaysia" as his topic. Due to a heavy headache Khai Wen have on the Week 3, he missed the class and lost the chance to consult the lecturer about the topic. But it

looks like too late already, so Khai Wen have no choice but to continue the assignment with his own.

Basically, we have to choose a topic based on current issues around the world and draw out a mindmap about it. So, Khai Wen have to create a visual expression in any form of art with 10X10 inch canvas. This is the hard part because we are free to choose any topic that we are interested to voice out.

So, as stated above, Khai Wen chosen "Operation Malaysia" or also known as a group called "Anonymous" which basically a group of internet hackers that protect the freedom of people using the internet. And recently, they just launched a set of warning via youtube and defaced ninety-one websites of the Malaysian government. All they did was send out a set of warning to our Malaysian government due to they block up the file sharing website like megaupload, pirate-bay and the others too. This act of censorship regulated the freedom rights of all people to use the internet.

1st Exercise in Class.

Hi there, it's week 2 for the semester. Our lecturer, Mr. Badrolhisham bin Hashim gave us an exercise to try draw a picture to express our expression in the picture

For example:
-There are one of the class-mate draw a picture of a box alone and express the emotion of loneliness.

The lecturer give 1 week to think of the emotion. So, Khai Wen use the 1 week timeline and draw out a emotion of his own. The emotion is the emotion he is feeling for this 1 week. For a person who was once called the

spammer of a certain forum, he have a lot of weird emoticon that is only seen online and so he choose one of the emoticon, The Trollface.

Of Cause, to avoid plagiarism, Khai Wen combine the Trollface with his own drawing style then he simply use a pen to doodle out the example picture.

Basically, the expression is made to make people looks stupid when they are trying to act smart, i use a blue pen to represent as the blue in "Blue Prints" and the simply sketchy lines are to show the "smartness" and the line form the face to show the "stupidness" and lastly I crapped the paper is to show the "trickiness"

Now, after this exercise is done, I have to do research on the current issue that is happening internationally. So, now I have to stop here and go to ask Uncle Google for more information. For now, I am planning to do on the most hottest issue on the internet, "Operation Malaysia". Hope I can get more information on this topic.(Picture taken from socha)

Yatagarasu, that was hidden in the flames to gain a power that would fulfill the wishes of both the worlds below and above the surface. This power was nuclear fusion. So, before this, I decided to using these powers to take over Gensokyo, the place where I was born. But I fail since there are alot of strong humans and youkais (spirits) in Gensokyo. That's all for the introduction for me.

Now I shall tell how this blog works. Basically, the owner of this blog, Khai Wen pass all the information he found to me and I will share it out here, in this blog. This type of blogging is kind of "Syok Sendiri" Role-playing blogging style. This blog is basically will act as a diary or process of Khai Wen's Media Arts assignment. I will be the one recording everything and share it out for everyone to read or view. So, after this post, it will start to be the serious assignment reports already.
